Hortlands builds gardens as well as irrigation systems. This gives us a significant advantage when installing into an existing landscape.
Where necessary, we protect access routes using ground protection boards. Turf is carefully lifted before trenches are excavated, normally to a depth of approximately 300mm.
Pipework is installed, the trench is backfilled and the original turf is replaced and watered. Within planting beds, excavation is completed carefully by hand where required to protect established roots and reduce unnecessary disturbance.
Where access allows, specialist trenching machinery can speed up installation and minimise the width of excavation.
Our objective is to leave the garden as close as possible to the condition we found it in.

There is no fixed price for a professionally installed garden irrigation system. Costs vary depending on the size and layout of the garden, the number of irrigation zones, the type of system required, and the available water supply.
Every irrigation system is individually designed and priced. The figures below provide an initial guide.

We also inspect, repair and upgrade systems installed by other companies. Our engineers initially bring the existing zones online to establish what is working and where faults are present.

Where appropriate, we recommend upgrading to a Hunter HCC controller. Remote access and flow monitoring make future diagnostics and system management significantly easier.
Older systems can often be improved gradually until they reach the standard expected from a Hortlands installation.
