Millboard Decking & Balcony Installation in Gerrards Cross

Millboard Decking & Balcony Installation in Gerrards Cross

This Gerrards Cross project featured two Millboard balconies alongside a basement decking area, all finished in Antique Oak Enhanced Grain decking to create a sophisticated, natural-looking outdoor space.

Millboard decking was chosen for its combination of realistic timber aesthetics, durability and minimal maintenance, making it particularly well suited to balconies and basement areas where long-term performance is essential.

Why Choose Millboard Decking?

Millboard is a premium decking solution designed to replicate the appearance and texture of natural timber without the maintenance associated with traditional wood decking.

Manufactured from a unique blend of polyurethane and minerals, Millboard decking is highly resistant to rot, warping and insect damage. It does not require regular staining, sealing or painting, helping to reduce ongoing maintenance and costs.

Its realistic wood-effect finish provides the appearance of natural timber, while its slip-resistant surface makes it a practical choice for residential and commercial outdoor spaces.

Hortlands’ Composite Frame & Pedestal System

A key feature of this project, and a defining element of Hortlands’ Millboard installations, was the use of a composite structural frame combined with a pedestal system.

Unlike traditional timber subframes, the composite frame will not rot, providing exceptional long-term durability and stability. The pedestal system also allows the decking structure to be accurately levelled while providing an effective solution for challenging areas such as balconies and basement terraces.

By combining premium Millboard decking with a robust composite subframe, Hortlands creates outdoor spaces designed to perform for many years with minimal maintenance.
