Big Frith uses a comprehensive borehole fed irrigation system designed for reliable automatic watering across lawns and planting areas.
Project Details
Big Frith required a comprehensive irrigation system capable of supporting a large garden with lawns, planted areas and varied watering requirements. The system was designed around a borehole supply, giving the garden access to a private water source rather than relying solely on mains water.
#1 Type
System type
Borehole fed automatic irrigation system
#2 Source
Water source
Borehole with 10,000 litre underground tank
#3 Brands
Key brands
Grundfos, Hunter Hydrawise, Enduramaxx, Rain Bird, Palaplast
#4 Suitability
Best for
Large gardens requiring reliable irrigation from a private water source
The installation includes a Grundfos SQE submersible borehole pump with constant pressure control, allowing the system to maintain consistent performance during operation. Water is stored in a 10,000 litre underground Enduramaxx tank before being distributed through the irrigation network.
The system is controlled by a Hunter HCC Hydrawise controller and uses a two wire decoder system for efficient control across the site. Rain Bird 5000 Series rotors and Rain Bird 1800 Series pop up sprinklers with R VAN rotary nozzles provide lawn irrigation, while Palaplast Paladrip pressure compensated dripline delivers water directly to the planting areas.
