Full Irrigation Installation Cookham

Hortlands were commissioned to design and install an irrigation system for a new build house in the final stages of construction.  The majority of the garden was to be laid to lawn, with some newly planted hedges around the perimeter, raised and tiered borders and six specimen trees.

We were required to work closely with the landscapers to commission sections of the system as soon as areas were planted.

Three large underground tanks were installed to collect rainwater from the majority of the property’s roof area. A constant pressure pumping system with variable speed control was then installed to provide pressurized water for the irrigation system, and strategically placed manual watering points. The system is controlled by a commercial wifi enabled irrigation timer.

The schedule required that the lawns were laid in near record temperatures, however watering could commence immediately once sections of the lawn were completed. The turf quickly established roots and was green and lush within days. New hedging was predominantly planted in built up ground hence free draining, so the irrigation proved critical in the first few months after planting. By the autumn there was plenty of new growth and the hedges were ready for their first cut.

Planting of the borders has been left to the very end of the project when all building work will be completed. Irrigation is ready for deployment once each bed is planted.
