The Royal Horticultural Society asked Hortlands to supply 690 metres of beech (Fagus sylvatica), instant hedges for their ground-breaking, RHS Garden Bridgewater when it first opened in 2020. We were delighted to be involved in the project and took the job on with great excitement.
The 154 acre site in Worsley New Hall, Manchester is presently the largest gardening project being constructed in Europe. So you can imagine how proud Hortlands are to be a part of such a project.
We sourced, supplied and consulted on the installation of the beech hedge, so saw the job through entirely from start to finish. Our installation team was on site to take the first delivery and then worked alongside the talented team of RHS gardeners onsite to make sure the job was finished to perfection. We were more than happy to share our years of experience and expertise in planting mature trees and hedges with the RHS team, and helped them to understand how best to make sure the hedges establish to the full potential.
Planting continues at the gardens and we are hoping to work with the RHS Bridgewater team again in the future.
