Hortlands have recently been appointed the grounds maintenance contract to look after the beautiful gardens at Hedsor House. We are extremely excited to begin our works there and help to make the gardens florish with more beauty.
Prior to the grounds maintenance contract we were hired to consult on the regeneration of a large yew hedge which had succumbed to damage from the deer that roam the grounds and some unfortunate poor pruning.
We recommended a treatment programme, which included the fortnightly application of a deer deterrent spray and a feeding plan. The deterrent spray has allowed the bottom of the hedge to recover safely whilst keeping the deer away from the hedge with not harm to them.
We then carried out a high nitrogen feeding plan to promote as much new healthy hedge growth as possible. Once the additional growth had progressed we then begin the process of slowly reshaping the hedges with skillful pruning and topiary shaping.
