Table Top Tree Planting in Fawley

Our installation team planted four, young ‘table-top’ trees, in a stunning hillside farmhouse in Fawley, near Henley-on-Thames.

Table top trees, also know as ‘flat top’ or ‘roof top’ trees, refers to a tree that has a flat or horizontally-oriented crown, as opposed to a more traditional, vertically-oriented crown. This shape can be achieved through various pruning and training techniques and is often used for ornamental or landscaping purposes.

After the trees had been planted we connected them together with a bespoke framework to direct and encourage the growth of flat branches across the paved seating area the trees had been planed around. This is a somewhat simple idea that creates very effective and interesting results.

The most commonly known example of this is the Japanese Maple with a “flat top” shape
