A respected local developer contacted Hortlands to discuss screening a newly developed block of flats from a busy road and footpath in Northwood, just outside London.
Hortlands suggested a cherry laurel instant hedge at 2.0m. We suggested Cherry laurel because its broad, waxy leaves are great at reflecting noise from passing cars and pedestrians. It’s evergreen coverage also guarantees dense all year screening, a great plus point for privacy. Our instant hedges are so thick and dense from day one, that no additional boundary fence or security is necessary. This is a great benefit when it comes to budget and costs as you will only need to purchase the hedging to complete the job.
Cherry laurel is a great choice for many properties as it will thrive in most soil types, apart from waterlogged or chalky soils. The instant hedge is suitable for both exposed sites in full sun or shade and its hardy to -15 degrees centigrade.
Keep pruned and cherry laurel will continue to form a great hedge. We suggest reducing pruning intervals for a more rounded natural look.
