Hortlands were contracted to design and implement an irrigation system in two phases.
Phase 1 consisted of installing the irrigation infrastructure: an above ground tank (screened by mature hedging), surface mounted pump set and a WIFI enabled irrigation controller. Existing and newly landscaped lawn areas were provisioned with discrete pop-up sprinklers. This required a substantial amount of trenching across existing lawn. These areas were boarded out, a strip of turf mechanically cut and lifted, and a neat trench dug by specialist machinery. Once pipes and fittings were installed, the trenches were back-filled and the turf re-instated. This carefully executed process leaves the area with minimal damage, and trenching scars disappear completely within a week or two.
Newly landscaped borders were irrigated with pressure compensating drip-line, which becomes almost unseen once the plants are semi mature.
Phase 2 consisted of providing multiple zones of pop-up rotors to water a newly planted wild flower meadow and turfed walk ways.
