With the construction work on going at this site in Winchester, it meant a limited time for accessing some areas for planting. With that in mind, we decided it was best to carry out the work for this project in phases. Some areas were accessible using our Avant telescopic handler, and others using the sites resident Manitou telescopic handler, so this is how we managed to maneuver the plants onto site.
Some locations on site proved a little more difficult to reach, but determined not to be defeated we enlisted the help of a crane to lift in the plants. The star of this show were semi-mature beech (Fagus sylvatica) trees and after some careful planning and hard work they were safely secured by our team.
These beech trees weighed an impressive 2,500kg.
Other plants were also lifted into place, including the 4.5-metre-high beech instant hedging elements, that we used to create an effective privacy screen from the neighboring building.
